Statement on the Current Political Situation in Thailand
2 December 2008

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon management team fully understands athletes’ concerns regarding the current political situation in Bangkok. We would like to inform all Laguna Phuket Triathlon participants that the scheduled events on 5, 6 and 7 December will proceed according to the program.

With the closure of the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon management team would like to inform athletes that all hotels in Phuket and in Laguna Phuket continue to be in full operation. Phuket International Airport remains open. The Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport has been closed since 25th November and Don Muang Airport has been closed since 26th November.

All international flights into Bangkok have been redirected or cancelled. We strongly urge passengers who have flights booked to arrive into Bangkok speak to their airlines directly about possible route changes to other international hubs that fly directly into Phuket, for example, Kuala Lumpar, Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore.

Laguna Resorts & Hotels Plc and the Laguna Phuket Triathlon management team will monitor the situation closely in consultation with the appropriate government authorities and provide updates to the situation as they come to hand.

Should you require any further information, please email triathlon@lagunaphuket.com
